“It is life, I think, to watch the water. A man can learn so many things.” ― Nicholas Sparks
Living on an island in front of the 11th largest fresh water lake in the world, I have learned so many things.
The ferries are our umbilical cord to the mainland. I have learned to tell time by watching them pass by our front door daily.
I have learned that water is the driving force of nature. We are recovering from a three-year drought. It has been so hard on the cows, birds, and horses.
I have learned that water brings fresh fish and work for the fishermen, it provides sustainable tourism, and recreation for our beautiful island.
I’ve learned that water is our most precious resource. Without it, there would be no life.
We are doing what we can to protect and preserve our biosphere reserve. Awareness first, action second.
It is an incredible gift to watch the water and take part in life from our island home in the middle of a giant sweet sea, in the middle of Nicaragua, in the middle of Central America.
Very cool to see these — As you know I live on a huge lake in the shadow of volcanoes.
Yep. I do know that. It is an amazing place to live, right?
Simply a beautiful gallery of photos and thoughts.

Thanks, Janet. I always have my camera handy for a shot.
Beautiful photos, Debbie; I especially like the last one… you have the gift!
Sandra, that is so sweet of you to say. Thank you so much.
It’s true… everyone loves your photos, and the way you weave stories and fables around them. I actually had occasion to be thankful for water, myself, at the weekend, when I ran my first marathon!
Congratulations, Sandra! That’s amazing.
Beautiful pictures. Always nice to see those. And indeed we do need water to survive. I always have water pans all over my yard for all the wildlife that happens by. Water is scarce in the desert.
Water pans all over your yard. Lol I guess when you live in the desert, you do what you gotta do. 😉
Love to read your blogs.
Thanks, Julie. I appreciate all my readers comments, too.
Indeed in the middle of it all. What a blessing! For us it is the Pacific ocean and we really never tire of looking out to sea. I take detours on my bicycle to favorite viewing spots and always leave refreshed and heartened. Life is good!
We never know what we may see when looking at the water, right? I agree. It always renews my spirit.
All awesome photos! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Settlein, I appreciate your comment.
