Blood Moon Over Ometepe Island

“The moon was reigning over their world, glowing its full splendor to all those willing to look up.”

Then, at midnight on Ometepe Island, Nicaragua, the light of the moon dimmed gradually, while the roosters crowed and the dogs howled.

Ever so slowly, the moon disappeared in the earth’s shadow…first, a nibble…then, a larger bite…until the moon was devoured like a delicious cookie in space.

And then……in the quiet darkness, the moon began to bleed.

IMG_2227Maybe it was in mourning. For a moon that cannot shine is lost to our world like a fading memory of once what could have been…or should have been.

IMG_2217Yet, I never lost hope, for the moon soon reigned again over our oasis of peace, glowing in its full splendor to all those willing to look up.

Everyone should have their mind blown once a day.~Neil deGrasse Tyson

My mind was definitely blown by this photo. What is this? Two moons hovering with a star in the middle? Life is full of mysteries and I, for one, cherish them all.
