A Great Opportunity

“People who lack the clarity, courage, or determination to follow their own dreams will often find ways to discourage yours. Live your truth and don’t EVER stop!”
― Steve Maraboli, Life, the Truth, and Being Free

This is a great opportunity for the right people. If you are searching for a new lifestyle, this may be for you. Eleven years ago, my husband and I followed our dreams by answering an ad for a manager of a hospedaje on Ometepe Island. Although, managing a youth hostel was not our thing, it led us to revamp and rewire our lifestyles and we’ve never looked back.

The Corner House on Ometepe Island, Nicaragua

Hi friends of The Cornerhouse!

As some of you may know, we are preparing to move back to Canada at the beginning of May after almost 5 years in this wild and beautiful country. We will be confidently leaving the business in the hands of our very capable and hardworking staff.

We are searching for the right individual or couple who would like to spend some time on Ometepe Island and take on the role of live-in caretaker. What does that mean exactly? Well, The Cornerhouse Café operates Monday – Saturday from 7am to 5pm, but the B&B side of the business is a 24/7 operation. Our current staff will run the daytime hours – your role would be just in the evenings. We live on site and play ‘host’ in the evenings after the restaurant closes when it is required, assisting guests with a variety of needs and questions from tour arrangements to dinner recommendations.

The other responsibility of the live-in caretaker will be to work alongside our staff on Saturdays, performing the day-to-day duties of a front-of-house employee.

What we can offer is your room and board, a monthly stipend to be negotiated, and the opportunity to experience island life in the heart of Moyogalpa. If you are interested (or know someone who might be!)and would like to discuss the finer details of this role, please feel free to contact us through Facebook or our website: www.thecornerhouseometepe.com

  1. I would loveeeee to do it, I have a degree from LeCordon Bleu college of culinary arts in Miami, I’m fluent in both english and spanish, I’m a people person and would love to experience Island life

  2. This sounds like a great opportunity and my husband and I would be perfect for this. I ran a B&B in Saint Helena, CA. and the menu in their restaurant is how we eat here. Fresh smoothies using locally grown produce are our forte. Unfortunately we have pets, which includes two old dogs, and a house to contend with so the timing is not right.

I'd love to read your ideas and thoughts below....
