Retirement and Good Living Article

I was asked to write a short piece about our lives on Ometepe Island for a website Retirement and Good Living.  You can check out the article here. The Retirees and the Volcano.

I have to add that I love blogging. I have met so many wonderful people through my blog. Thanks to all my friends, old and new, who have enriched my life beyond my wildest dreams.

    • Hi Rod,

Yes, I know them well. They are good friends that moved from Costa Rica to Nicaragua. Here’s the most amazing part of the story. Before Jim and Carol married, Carol lived in the same small town in TN in which we lived. We lived there for 20 years together, and although we had many common friends, we never met until they came to Ometepe Island to visit. Small world. When we go to Granada, we always stay with them.

  1. Nicely written, Debbie. I love the “paddling across the lake” metaphor to explain risk taking. Seeking adventure or leaping out of one’s comfort zone requires risks and you both have come out ahead. Wow! Look what you have accomplished, but the best reward is the contentment and satisfaction you must feel. 🙂

  2. I’m very envious of the lifestyle you’ve created for yourselves–it sounds so relaxed and in such a lovely setting. Hopefully I will be able to come and see for myself when I come back to Nicaragua!

  3. When I read articles like yours while at the same time planning our “escape”, I only hope that we can craft a life like you two have. 🙂 I totally enjoyed it – your writing inspires the imagination. Thank you for sharing.

I'd love to read your ideas and thoughts below....
